Google Doodle Celebrates Birthday of Thomas Edison, Father of Modern Life As We Know It

Imagine what the life would be like without electricity.

Hard to picture, right? Well you can thank Thomas Edison for that convenience. In honor of the father of modern technology, today’s Google doodle honors Edison, the best-known American inventor.  Born in 1847, today would be his 164th birthday.

The Google doodle includes animated images of some of Edison’s most significant inventions, including the phonograph, light bulb and motion picture camera. In total, he holds over 1,000 U.S. patents.
