Now that the least-surprising surprise in the upcoming royal wedding is out of the bag, should the planet duck for cover in light of Prince Harry taking on best man duties for his older brother? (via Daily Mail)

Actually, if Prince William gets his way — and let’s face it, as the groom, he ought to — perhaps those infamous Harry gaffes will be kept to a minimum. That said, the rumor is that he insisted that he wanted to be known as best man, rather than the royal protocol of Supporter. And William is believed to be of the opinion that Supporter (which his father used 30 years ago) is rather outdated.

But when it comes to organizing the Stag do (aka bachelor party), Harry looks like being stopped in his tracks before the event even had the chance to go off the rails. A wild night out in London (Saucy burlesque acts! Nightclubs!) will probably be replaced by an “outdoor pursuits” weekend outside London, which may involve quad biking and archery, culminating with an evening at the pub.

A foreign trip is out of the equation due to security concerns as well as the fact it could incur the wrath of the public, if it ever transpired that any taxpayer money went toward it. And on home soil, Harry has often been caught looking the worse for wear, leaving many an exclusive London night spot.

Once the final night of freedom is out of the way, attention will turn to Harry’s Best Man speech. The early advice is in and bears repeating: make jokes about hair lines, not airlines (Kate Middleton’s mother was once a member of a cabin crew). And seriously, don’t even go there on the Waity Katy stuff. But basically, don’t get in any trouble with the law, your current or future family and all should go swimmingly.
