We’d all like a seat at Westminster Abbey to see Kate Middleton finally marry Prince William this April. But it seems Mexican teenager Estibalis Chavez wants it just a little more.
For eight days, the 19-year-old has been camped outside of the British embassy in Mexico City, surviving only on water. And she says her strike was inspired by another royal: Princess Diana. Chavez told reporters Thursday that she promised her mother, who died when the teen was born, that she’d attend the wedding of Diana’s son.
Chavez has taken her campaign to Facebook, but is also using old-school fliers. “Are they going to let me die just because they wouldn’t give me an invitation to the royal wedding?”one poster asks. “This is my only dream,” a second one reads. The British embassy has yet to comment on the teen’s crusade. But Chavez has pledged to carry on until she “can’t go on.” (via Reuters)
