If all of Paul the Octopus’s predictions were this easy, NewsFeed doubts he would have earned his international stardom.

Heidi, the cross-eyed opossum, has been invited to chose Oscar winners, filling the void left by Paul after the 2010 World Cup. In the first test of her psychic abilities, Heidi predicted that Natalie Portman would win the Oscar for Best Actress for her performance in Black Swan.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! showed Heidi via videolink from her zoo in Leipzig, Germany. The opossum appeared to deliberate over cross-eyed photos taped to golden Oscar statues of each of the five nominees for Best Actress. After what looked like careful consideration of Nicole Kidman (nominated for Rabbit Hole) and Jennifer Lawrence (nominated for Winter’s Bone) Heidi symbolically pawed Portman’s figurine.

Well, woop-dee-doo Heidi! Everyone who’s read anything about the Oscar’s knows the actress’s performance was the perfect recipe to pick up the Academy Award. Portman trained for a year, including rigorous ballet and swimming to prepare for Darren Aronofsky’s film, earning her praise from many film critics.

Great job Heidi, you don’t live under a rock. But have you proven yourself the next Paul? NewsFeed’s not convinced…yet.
