The sunny spring weather Tuesday in Oklahoma City was not unlike the temperature exactly 16 years ago, when an explosion ripped through the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, killing 168 people. It is on this day that the town stops to reflect on the attack, those who died and those who survived.

Gov. Mary Fallin spoke to about 300 who came to the Oklahoma City National Memorial Museum, which now sits in place of the destroyed building, The Oklahoman reported. During a ceremony, the names of those who died were read and 168 seconds of silence were observed. “The memorial is a testament to the sacrifices of those killed and injured in the bombing, as well as the rescue workers who worked tirelessly to pull survivors from the rubble.”
