A Facebook page set up last Thursday helps citizens recover pictures and other memorable items lost in last week’s tornadoes.

Patty Bullion of Lester, Ala. found that several photographs had blown into her yard during the storm and created “Pictures and Documents found after the April 27, 2011 Tornadoes,” so she could facilitate the return of valuable family memories to their rightful owners. The page asks users to post pictures of what they found along with “a brief description of how someone can find you if they identify pictures or items that belong to them.”

Nearly 2,000 photos have been posted since the page was created. As of last Friday, just a day after the page went live, more than 40 items had been identified and claimed, the AP reports.
