Disney has slowly been re-releasing its classic films in 3-D for its adoring fans to enjoy at home. So what makes The Lion King different?

The company is putting a heavy dose of fanfare behind the film’s re-release. That’s right, the classic animated movie will return to theaters 17 years later eye-popping three dimensions. Disney will again raise another generation of children on Simba’s coming-of-age tale and Rafiki’s wisdom, but this time they’ll be popping out of the screen.

The Lion King has kept the money flowing into Disney, which explains their willingness to bring it back to theaters. It’s the highest grossing hand-drawn animation film ever, with a handful of other accolades too: the epic tale is the 6th most profitable animated film and the 32nd highest grossing movie of all time.

NewsFeed is curious who will make up the audience when The Lion King returns to theaters. Will seats be flooded by nostalgic 20-somethings, or will youngsters in fact be indoctrinated into the world of old-school hand-drawn Disney?
