Fresh off the paws of the American Kennel Club’s latest additions, NewsFeed takes a look at 15 breeds that have made it to the registry over the past few years. In other words — look at these puppy pictures!
The Finnish Lapphund is a herding dog that originated north of the Arctic Circle, where it worked and lived outside. Its fluffy, thick coat reflects those roots by allowing it to withstand extremely cold temperatures, while its friendly face reminds us of a huggable teddy bear.
The Cesky Terrier is the national breed of the Czech Republic, and has a soft, silky coat and short, muscular frame. Originally a pack hunter in the forests of Bohemia, the Cesky is known to hunt fox, rabbits, ducks, pheasants, and even wild boar — something to keep in mind if you want to add a Cesky to your family.
The American English Coonhound belongs to the Hound group — if the term "Coonhound" wasn't a straight giveaway — and is known for its speed and loud bark. These dogs were originally bred as hunters in the American colonies, but nowadays, they are affectionate companions who are happiest when they're active
A native of Switzerland, the Entlebucher Mountain Dog was originally used to herd cows in the Alps. Today, this breed is active, athletic and loyal to and protective of its family.
Norwegian Lundehunds are possibly the most unique dogs out there. They have six toes on each paw and can tip their heads backwards until they touch their backs. While small in frame, they have large personalities and are known to be great companions.

With a flashy red coat, the Redbone Coonhound was originally bred for its striking looks and then developed into an avid and capable hunter. Easily trainable, this breed is agile and athletic, with the ability to navigate any terrain to please its owner.
As part of the class of dogs referred to as the Spitz type, the Norwegian Buhund were bred as energetic working dogs known to herd sheep, guard farms and hunt bears and wolves. These dogs are excellent companions and are often trained as service dogs.
The Irish Red and White Setter is thought to be the oldest of the Irish Setters, however, the breed almost died out by the end of the 19th Century. These dogs are smart, spirited and energetic, making them great for active families.
