This is no light-hearted camp: your child will learn “the principles of liberty, free markets, and limited government.”
Based on the principles of Glenn Beck’s 9/12 Project, the Tampa chapter of the organization tuned in to the Tea Party ideals is looking to bring a younger generation under their wing. That’s right, they’re offering a summer camp. The weeklong program is geared toward children from 8 to 12 years old to instill in them the values of the Tea Party using the mission created by the Fox News Channel host. “We want to introduce a younger generation to economics and history, but in a fun way,” says Tampa 912 Project chairwoman Karen Jaroch.

The camp is organized by conservative writer Jeff Lukens and will be taught by volunteers from the Tampa 912 Project. “We want to impart to our children what our nation is about, and what they may or may not be told,” Lukens told the St. Petersburg Times.
The camp will use hands-on activities in shedding the attitude of “political correctness” in the public school curriculum. In one planned lesson, kids will learn the dangers of inflation and the workings of the gold standard, where they’re paid in hard candies. The banker will later pay the campers in paper money, which, according to Lukens, will teach kids how paper money devalues over time, while the candy gold keeps its value.
Other lessons will focus on the glory of America, the ills of socialism, and the responsibilities of freedom. But we bet most kids will have just one question: when’s recess?
