It was only a matter of time before the world’s most glamorous couple headed to the sunniest city of them all.
Hollywood: It’s not like Anglesey in North Wales, you know. But NewsFeed has no doubts whatsoever that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, are going to fit in just fine.
After what seems like an eternity in Canada, the newlywed royal couple are rounding off their trans-Atlantic trip in style with a few days in Los Angeles. They’ll be greeted at the airport Friday by California Governor Jerry Brown and his wife and will hit the ground running: they meet with venture capitalists, industry leaders and philanthropists, followed by a reception at the home of the British consul-general in Hancock Park, which is where they’ll be staying.

William has been to the U.S. before, but it’s Kate’s first time — and it’s been said that she was very firm that the LA part of the trip had to happen. You’d almost think there were better shopping opportunities or something.
But it’s not going to be all fun. In fact, classic West Coast visits to the likes of the beach, Disneyland or Universal Studios won’t be taking place. But Saturday’s itinerary is pretty much bling all the way: if you’ve got a spare $4,000 (or $400, though that means you won’t meet them), feel free to pop along to the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club to watch the Prince lead his fellow polo players into competition and then see Kate present the trophy to the winning team (disclaimer: if you actually take NewsFeed’s advice but don’t get in, we can’t be held responsible).
On Saturday night, the stars will literally be out as the twosome walk the red carpet at the Belasco Theatre in downtown LA, for a BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) dinner honoring 42 young British filmmakers.
Their final day of the trip is Sunday, which concentrates on the Skid Row area (they’ll watch a dance at a nonprofit academy for disadvantaged kids) as well as a job fair for U.S. servicemen and women transitioning to civilian life. And if Friday’s job numbers are anything to go by, Kate and William might get quite a few resumes thrust into their hands. (via AP)
