A teaser poster for the final film of the Batman trilogy has been released. But it doesn’t tease much.

The poster itself reveals none of the main cast members and doesn’t even feature the title of the film, only reminding us of its release next summer. The poster features the Batman symbol emerging from the destruction of the Gotham skyline, naturally promising an action-packed film.

Rumors about the film have been circulating regarding who will play the counterpart to Christian Bale’s Batman. Though Tom Hardy is locked in to play Bane, Liam Neeson has been another candidate, with Variety speculating over his inclusion in the cast. Neeson played the villain Ra’s Al Ghul in the first film of the Batman series in 2005.

There have been further rumors surrounding the release date of the first trailer with the website Superhero Hype reporting a date for the trailer, July 15, which will coincide with the release of the final Harry Potter film.

At first glance the cast list may look like the sequel to Inception and not the Batman trilogy, with Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt all appearing in the movie. Accompanying these stars are Anne Hathaway as Catwoman and a reprisal of Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine’s roles.

Christopher Nolan’s final Batman film has big shoes to fill, as its predecessor broke the record for money grossed in its opening day as well as receiving two Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor and Best Sound Editing.
