Victoria Beckham is known more for singing (and wearing fancy outfits) than reading. But that hasn’t stopped the former Spice Girl from influencing reading habits back in Britain.

Online book retailer Amazon reports that sales of To Kill a Mockingbird have jumped 123% on its U.K. website since Posh and Becks named their daughter after the book’s author, Harper Lee.

Speaking in a video posted on his Facebook page, David Beckham said a lot of thought went into the name choice. “One reason is Harper’s an old English name, which we loved, and one of the other reasons was Victoria’s favorite book is To Kill a Mockingbird and the author was Harper Lee. It’s a very strong, passionate book. That’s where Harper came from.”

That totally debunks NewsFeed’s earlier suggestion that Victoria had named her daughter after the fashion magazine Harper’s Bazaar. But our suspicion was well-founded. In a 2005 interview with Spanish magazine Chic, Victoria made it clear that reading isn’t a passion. “I haven’t read a book in my life,” she said. “I don’t have the time…I prefer listening to music, although I do love fashion magazines.”
