It’s the summer – perfect for being single and ready to mingle.

But in certain spots around the nation, some singles will have an easier time than others. Travel + Leisure has culled together some data and come up with a list of destinations where you’ll probably have a better chance of finding Mr. or Ms. Right.

So what makes a spot a great place to meet others of the opposite sex? It’s more than just looks apparently – if that was the case, the Big Apple would win – but a variety of factors such as cafés, public transportation, restaurants or any other lively city characteristics also aid in meeting interesting and diverse people.

Coincidence or not coincidence, it also happens that the list had “…plenty of crossover with cities that ranked highly in another category—the wild weekend.” Ahem. But, perhaps the two things aren’t always mutually exclusive. The best cities to be single include:

  1. New Orleans, Louisiana
  2. Austin, Texas
  3. Las Vegas, Nevada
  4. New York, New York
  5. Chicago, Illinois
