Sorry, Snooki: Reality Stars Won’t Get Hollywood Walk of Fame Honors

If you’re thinking that reality television’s dominance of Hollywood was complete, think again. Reality stars aren’t actually star-worthy when it comes to Hollywood’s Walk of Fame.

CNN reports that the Walk of Fame’s Facebook page clarified the reality dilemma last week with this pointed post: “Someone asked if we give reality show characters stars? Hell to the No!” In order to secure a star on the Walk, a committee votes on a particular celebrities qualifications which include “longevity in their field of entertainment, awards and other honors, and philanthropic work”, according to CNN. Oh, and that’s not to mention the $30,000 the celeb must lay down in order to secure the honor.

Which isn’t to say that there aren’t some reality TV stars who’d be more than happy to part with that much cash to see their name immortalized in cement — the entire Kardashian clan springs to mind — however, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce committee that decides these things isn’t ready to succumb to reality’s dark pull. The vice president for media relations for the Walk of Fame, Ana Martinez, told CNN that, “It’s just not on the radar for us right now.”
