It’s not really a fair fight when one sector is tasked with fixing the economy while the other’s job is to make iPads more fun.
But a recent Gallup poll that measures public perception of different industries highlights the growing discontent that Americans have had with the federal government. Among the 25 sectors measured, the government has ranked low on the list for the past few years. But this year, it came in dead last for first time, replacing the chronically unpopular oil and gas industry.

Those polled were asked if their view of each of the business and industry sectors was positive, somewhat positive, neutral, somewhat negative or negative. This survey has been conducted for a decade now, and the two sectors that have fallen the most in popularity are real estate and government. Also at the bottom of the list are healthcare, banking and the legal field.
On the other end of the spectrum, the 72% positive response for the computer industry is the highest such rating ever. With laptops and tablets improving year after year, it’s not hard to see why. (via Gallup)
