Photos: Elizabeth Taylor’s Famous Jewels to Hit the Auction Block

This ruby and diamond necklace by Cartier features a pear-shaped pearl that was once one of the Crown Jewels of Spain. "La Peregrina" was a 1969 Valentine's Day gift to Taylor from Burton, and is now valued at $2-$3 million.

The "Taj Mahal Diamond" was a 40th birthday present from Richard Burton, and once belonged to Emperor Shah Jahangir. Burton famously remarked of the gift, "I would have liked to buy her the Taj Mahal but it would cost too much to transport."

Taylor had long been a fan of this royal insignia, so when the "Prince of Wales brooch" was auctioned after the death of Wallis Simpson, Duchess of Windsor, in 1987, she snapped it up. The brooch is now estimated to be worth $400,000-$600,000.

The "Elizabeth Taylor Diamond" easily puts all other rings to shame. The nearly flawless 33.19 carat gem, another gift from Burton, is now valued at $2.5-$3.5 million.

When third husband Mike Todd gave Taylor this ruby and diamond necklace (along with matching bracelet and earrings) at their vacation villa in the south of France, she was so elated that she jumped in the pool wearing it.

This diamond, emerald, and gold "Snake" bracelet watch by Bulgari is from 1961, and is estimated at $12,000-$15,000.

This amethyst, diamond, and Kunzite pendant was part of a Van Cleef & Arpels set of jewels called "Triphanes." The pink and purple stunner is valued at $70,000-$100,000.
