Nostalgia Reigns: Britney Spears Stars in VH1’s ‘Pop Up Video’ Reboot

Is there a more fitting pair than Britney Spears and VH1’s Pop Up Video? We think not.

Nearly 10 years after Pop Up Video‘s heyday, fans can once again seeing the bubbles burst on Brit Brit’s video for “‘Till the World Ends.”

With its mix of snarky comments, behind-the-scenes tidbits and random trivia, Pop Up Video became a cultural phenomenon by adding commentary to such classic videos as Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Want to Have Fun,” Madonna’s “Vogue” and “Express Yourself,” and, of course, Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up” (always a NewsFeed favorite).

So what do we learn from Britney Spears’ bubbles? Well, for one thing, we now know that Andy Dick’s 47th birthday is the same day as the supposed end of the world, according to the Mayan calendar. (That’s December 21, 2012, for those who aren’t keeping track.) We also find out that all of Britney’s dancers were required to submit to a drug test before shaking it in the video, which was shot in a “grimy and gross” warehouse basement in L.A.

Another bubble tells us that one extra was booted from the set. Want to know why? You’re going to have to watch the video to find out, as that tidbit provides a little too much information for NewsFeed.

The show returns in all its glory on October 3 at 12 p.m. Eastern on VH1.
