There are some criminals in this world, outside of informants, that police are no doubt thankful for. Strange as that sounds, a good example of that is the case of two burglars who turned in Kraig Stockard, 54, who police say possessed child pornography on CDs they originally stole from him in a break in.
Last month, the two intruders picked their way into a barn owned by Stockard in Delhi, Calif., and took the discs, according to a Merced County Police Department statement. The duo, upon inserting the discs into the computer, discovered the illegal material on them and informed the police.
Authorities served a search warrant and three computers and three laptops were confiscated from Stockard’s home. Police said thousands of child pornography images and movies were on the discs. According to police, Stockard has been downloading such pictures since 2004.
Stockard admits to possessing the porn, but would not say how much was on the laptops. He was arrested and booked for child porn possession and has posted $25,000 bail, according to the Merced Sun-Star.
The two burglars, one of whom is a juvenile, have not been arrested for the burglary, but their case has been forwarded to the Merced County District Attorney.
