It began as a movie, spawned a television series and may end in a movie once again. Actress Connie Britton told Us Weekly the Dillon Panthers will head back to the box office for another cinematic release of Friday Night Lights. “It’s happening for realises,” said Britton, who plays Tami Taylor on show.

After the cult series wrapped up its fifth and final season this past summer, executive producer Peter Burg announced his intentions of creating yet another movie, sending fans into a frenzy over the possibility.

“Pete is totally fired up to do it and I know Jason Katims is talking about writing a script. I think it’s really a matter of…getting everyone’s busy schedules aligned and making it happen,” Britton said.

Though the first movie is based on a different set of characters, the anticipated flick will focus on the television series’ cast of characters. “It’s so funny to hear [from fans]: ‘Do you think they’ll do a movie version of Friday Night Lights?’ and in the back of my mind I’m like, ‘You do realize there already is a movie of it?” said Britton, who also starred in the 2004 film with Billy Bob Thornton.

Britton’s currently filming FX’s American Horror Story but said she’s going to do her part to push the idea forward. Push away — NewsFeed would like nothing more than the return of Riggins.
