In the wake of Steve Jobs’ passing, memorial messages and plaudits of the innovator and business savant have flooded Facebook, Twitter and other sites. Apple fans posted photos of their favorite products or reflected on Jobs’ inspiration, including a group who set forth to celebrate his memory on Friday, Oct. 14.

In conjunction with the release of the new iPhone4S, digital marketing agency Studiocom proclaimed Friday Steve Jobs Day, in hopes that Apple fans around the world and on the web would participate in a unified celebration of the tech icon.

“We admire his work. We’ve embraced his vision. And we love what he’s brought to the world,” the site declares. “Let’s take a day to celebrate the life and work of Steve Jobs and say thank you.” The site invites fans to don black turtlenecks and snap a photo to upload to a gallery on the site or on any social media platform.

Organizers are also asking people to arrange meetups outside Apple stores worldwide including in St. Petersburg, Russia, Mumbai, India and Manila, Philippines.

The group, unaffiliated with Apple, also encourages people to continue discussing Jobs’ inspiration or even donate to cancer research in memoriam. Launched on Sept. 23, 2011, the group said it hopes the day will “pay tribute to the life and the legacy he leaves behind.”
