On the heels of her new book, Gabby: A Story of Hope and Courage, Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords will offer a televised look at her post-tragedy life.

A preview of Diane Sawyer’s interview with Giffords aired during Thursday’s broadcast of ABC World News. The clip shows Giffords seated next to her husband, astronaut Mark Kelly, speaking short phrases in a clear voice.

Sawyer’s conversation with Giffords will be the Congresswoman’s first TV interview since she was shot 10 months ago. The special will include interviews with Giffords’ friends and family. Giffords’ brown hair has grown out since it was shaved in May for surgery to repair her skull.

Giffords is recovering from a brain injury she suffered Jan. 8 when a gunman opened fire outside a Tucson, Ariz., supermarket. Six people were killed and 13 were wounded, including Giffords.
