Deep Fried Stuffing on a Stick

From turkeys to butter balls, there’s nothing Paula Deen won’t throw in the deep fryer. For the holidays, she’s come up with a novel (and classy) way of serving stuffing: on a stick! Just form the stuffing into a “log shape,” jam it on a popsicle stick and give it a grease bath. Never one to skimp on the tantalizing descriptions, Paula says it should “look somewhat like a lumpy corn dog.” Some reviewers say it looks like something lumpy that came out of a dog. Yum!
Kwanzaa Harvest Cake
Once in a generation, there comes a recipe so atrocious that it eclipses all others. It becomes, in fact, a legend. Sandra Lee’s Kwanzaa Angelfood Harvest Cake recipe has been pulled from the Food Network site, but nothing can erase the memory of this epic culinary blunder. Sandra begins with her standard store-bought angel food cake and icing, but quickly takes a detour to crazytown by dumping a huge can of cold apple pie filling in the center. Things get worse when she slathers the cake with brown icing and decorates it with pumpkin seeds and corn nuts. (They’re supposed to be acorns, okay?) She tops off the hideous farrago by jamming outsized orange, black and green candles into the top. Food writer Anthony Bourdain wrote that the “eye-searing” cake made him “mad for all humanity.” Thanks, Sandra, for inspiring fellow-feeling during the holidays.
