Ever had a neighbor who made you feel like a failure at life? Their lawn is always perfectly trimmed, flowers are always blooming in their garden; Halloween transforms their house into a haunted maze of doom, and you just know they have a festive cornucopia on their dining table.

Christmas, however, elevates those feelings of inadequacies tenfold. You know the ones—the houses that pull out all the stops when it comes to Christmas lights and decorations, setting up entire manger scenes and winter wonderlands. People from all over hear about the insane display of cheer and make a trek out to see your neighbor’s decked out house.

How can anyone feel good about putting up a simple string of lights next to a display like that?

One household in Beaverton, Oregon found the perfect solution: they put up a sign reading “ditto” with an arrow pointing to their neighbor’s famously decorated house.

Now they’re the ones getting attention. “ How can you compete with that?” resident Courtney Clarke told Oregon’s Fox 12 news channel. “So, my mom and I actually came out here one day and put up a “ditto” sign—and we just thought it was funny.” Clarke said she got the idea after seeing viral emails going around for years with other houses putting up similar signs. However, she says their cheeky display is meant as an homage to her neighbor’s hard work. At least this year, though, Clarke’s “Ditto” house is the one stealing the show.
