Ever wonder what happened to Ted Williams, the homeless man with the “Golden Voice,” after he was plucked out of obscurity and thrust into the viral limelight?

It’s been just over a year since Williams became a star, after a YouTube video featuring the then-homeless Columbus, Ohio man presented his pitch-perfect, classic radio voice to the world. Entertainment Tonight caught up with the Williams to see how the past year has dramatically changed the former panhandler’s life.

In the video, Williams shows off his spacious home that he shares with his girlfriend and sober living coach, saying he’s still in disbelief: “A year ago today I was living in tents, under bridges, smoking crack, doing all the wild things—now this is where I live. I have a fireplace.” He also has a walk-in closet that doubles as a recording booth, where he records his spots for his job as the official voice of the New England Cable News.

The past year has been a busy one; in addition to going to rehab twice, Williams has been working with Entertainment Tonight (whose producers also helped him with achieving sobriety), landed a voice over spot in a Kraft Homestyle Macaroni and Cheese commercial last year, and is set to release a book chronicling his story this May.

“What a difference a year makes,” he said. “It’s a ‘hallelujah’ moment every day I wake up.”

I am very happy for Ted but the reality of the homeless is most often they don't have any exceptional talent that is marketable. Ted does and without that he would probably still be homeless along with the multitudes of other  homeless people on the street today. I must say though he not only has a golden voice he has a golden heart as well.

My wife and I have nothing but good wishes for you, Ted.   We are thankful to God for the helpers he has sent to you and proud of you for having the faith to try and to succeed in extracting yourself from that lonely and hopeless lifestyle you were leading.  Every day that comes offers us opportunities for good and temptations for bad.  Keep on choosing the good and rejecting the bad.  As the old song goes, "You gotta  accennn-tuate the positive and   elimmmm-inate the negative....."        God bless you every day!!

I watched Ted's biography yesterday and remembered watching the viral video over a year ago.  I feel so proud of this lovely man for all he has accomplished and want to add my thanks to all who helped him achieve his goals.  Mr Williams, it's light up ahead and dark behind you.  Always follow the light.

This shows anyone that bad times are not an end in themselves. I hope many other people in similar seemingly hopeless situations take notes. Ted's sweet spirit really shines through. Well done!
