The group may have started out as a joke, but when it comes to getting the band back together, 2gether is very serious. According to TMZ, the parody boy band that brought you such hits as “The Hardest Part of Breaking Up (Is Getting Back Your Stuff) and “U + Me = Us (Calculus)” is working to resurrect the gang for a new TV movie.

If you don’t know 2gether, they were the ultimate parody of a New Kids on the Block-style boy band, complete with catchy lyrics, copious amounts of hair gel and members divided by stereotype, e.g. “The Heartthrob” and “The Cute One.” Back in the early aughts, 2gether had a movie and then a television series fittingly called 2ge+her: The Series on MTV, which followed the occasionally wacky antics of the band. The film spawned not only a TV show, but two albums with real life breakout hits including “Say It, Don’t Spray It.”

The group disbanded, but the dream didn’t die. According to TMZ, the remaining four members of the group have pitched MTV on a reunion and the network is on board. Considering one of the hottest (and highest grossing) concert tickets last year was the Backstreet Boys/New Kids on the Block reunion tour, it’s no surprise that other boy bands (including fake ones) are interested in reuniting and cashing in on some Millennial nostalgia.

It’s not just about the money for 2gether, though. A portion of the proceeds from the reboot will go towards the Michael Cuccione Foundation, in honor of one of the founding members of the group, who died of cancer in 2001.
