The Dotcom Mansion

Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom’s New Zealand mansion is more than just extravagant — it’s actually the most expensive property in the country. The 25,000-sq.-ft. (2,300 sq m) estate in Coatesville, 15 miles (24 km) northwest of the country’s largest city, Auckland, was on the market for $24 million. Dotcom rents the place for more than $24,000 a month, according to Reuters.

The property is fit for a millionaire; beyond the palatial house, Kim Dotcom has his own tennis courts, horse stables, swimming pools and a garden maze nestled into the hills around his estate. It’s also fit for someone allegedly watching his back — when police raided Dotcom’s property, which employs security guards and cameras, they reportedly found him holding a weapon that appeared to be a sawed-off shotgun as he holed up in his own personal safe room, which had been built inside his bedroom (one of six in the house).
