Remember the amazing and adorable Volkswagen Super Bowl commercial from last year that featured a little boy dressed as Darth Vader? The one that seemingly everyone posted to Facebook and Twitter and emailed to each other? Well, the sequel to that much-loved ad is about to make its Super Bowl debut, and we think it’s a winner. The commercial stars a chubby dog who gets in shape in order to chase the new VW Beetle. But the commercial doesn’t end with the dog sprinting alongside the car. Instead, Deutsch LA, the ad agency responsible for both ads, fit in a Star Wars reference as a kicker.

Talking to Mashable, Mark Hunter, CCO of Deutsch LA, acknowledged that their wildly popular first ad “The Force” was a tough act to follow. “The pressure is on because we did that great ad,” he says. “We don’t mind. That’s what we’re in this business for.” According to Hunter, the agency came up with close to 200 script ideas before settling on the story in the video. They then started teasing the ad (yes, a teaser for an ad) with another video, “The Bark Side,” which has racked up 10 million views since hitting YouTube Jan. 18.
