Prince Harry has moved into London's Kensington Palace, where he'll be neighbors with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Prince Harry is moving out of his dad’s house for good. The 27-year-old is leaving Clarence House, the residence he shared with his father, to become neighbors with Prince William and Kate Middleton, CNN reveals. Harry is swapping a bedroom and study for his own small apartment in Kensington Palace.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge currently live in a cottage on the grounds of the London palace, but are moving into refurbished apartments in 2013. Once the renovations are complete, Harry is expected to take over the cottage. While spending the first few years of wedded bliss with your brother-in-law is not ideal for most, the three have lived together before. Clarence House was the official London residence for both princes, but Will and Kate spent most of their time at their home in North Wales.

But don’t cue the Three’s Company theme song just yet; the third in line to the throne won’t be home for long. Harry is getting ready for deployment to Afghanistan. Military service is extremely important to Captain Wales, as he is known. Back in 2007, his deployment in the Afghan province of Hemland was cut short after media reports gave away his location. This time around, there is no need for a media blackout; the price will be airborne as a prestigious Apache helicopter pilot.

Royal sources tell CNN the prince has wanted a place of his own for a while now. His triumphant tour of the Caribbean, his first solo trip, proved Harry is ready for official royal duties. Once a wild child on the London club scene, Harry struck the right mix of cheeky and respectful while abroad promoting the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. He lightened a tricky political situation with Jamaica’s Prime Minister, Portia Simpson Miller, with his trademark charm and treaded on sister-in-law Kate Middleton’s territory by setting a fashion trend.

Returning to Kensington Palace is a homecoming for both princes; both were raised in the London home with their mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, who resided there until her death in 1997.
