We never hear much about money troubles under the golden arches, but this Monday’s Mega Millions record $656 million payout, which had Americans flocking to buy tickets, has caused much grief for a Maryland McDonald’s restaurant.
Employee Mirlande Wilson purchased one of three winning tickets, and is insisting on keeping the money for herself, despite claims from her colleagues that they pooled money to buy lottery tickets.
“I was in the group, but this was separate. The winning ticket was a separate ticket,” Wilson said, as reported by the New York Post.
But the other participants in the 15-member pool are crestfallen. “She can’t do this to us!” was the plaintive cry of one of her co-workers.
