New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow speaks at a news conference introducing him as a Jets at the team's training center in Florham Park, New Jersey March 26, 2012.

Even Tim Tebow was suspicious of a Florida couple that bid $100,000 to spend one day with him during a live auction for his charity. That suspicion quickly turned to gratitude when he learned the anonymous Florida couple wanted to have him spend the day with disadvantaged youth in their community.

As part of the Tim Tebow Foundation’s fundraising golf tournament, a husband and wife duo stunned the crowd with a $100,000 bid. The couple, who live in the Florida Keys, have donated to the foundation in the past, but red flags went up because of the high bid until the motives were made known.

Erik Dellenback, the foundation’s director, explained to ESPN:

They live in a part of town that has a lot of people in need and a lot of people with a lot of wealth, and she felt like bringing Timmy to her town down there would maybe change the town. It sounds like she’s going to have a little event where she brings over some of the kids who are in need and some of the kids who are pretty deserving.

Tebow knows his influence, too. “It was very humbling, and you don’t necessarily feel worthy,” Tebow said. “That day I feel like I’ve got to do a few extra things to be special, you know? I’ve got to try to be a little bit better.”
