Move over, Slowhand. Step aside, Jack White.

Meet David DiDonato, an Austin guitarist and music instructor, who has just broken the world record for longest guitar solo. On stage at Austin’s Red 7, the guitarist for local metal band Modok surpassed the record of 24 hours and 18 minutes to stand as the world’s reigning champ, according to the music venue:

The bleary-eyed guitarist began his quest at 7 p.m. Sunday night and was allowed a five-minute break every hour to maintain sanity. Like a drawn-out interlude at a jam band music festival, DiDonato shredded for a gruesome 24 hours and 55 minutes, streaming the performance on UStream.tv. Though the music venue was closed to the public from 2 a.m. to noon, DiDonato offered $25 to anyone willing to watch him perform the entire solo. The question is, are you up for the challenge to watch it the whole way through?
