Fireworks explode over Buckingham Palace during the Diamond Jubilee concert, in London June 4, 2012.
While half a million visitors crammed into The Mall and 17 million more watched on television, the Queen herself lit the “Jubilee beacon,” sparking a massive, 4,000-piece fireworks show over Buckingham Palace that capped the Queen’s Jubilee Concert. All told, more than half of the British population — an estimated 57 percent — watched the pyrotechnics.
