Something bigger than the Royal Wedding? Finally! Pundits actually compared the festivities to the equivalent of hosting four Royal Weddings in a row; the Diamond Jubilee was called the largest royal security operation in history. Months prior to the event, police used dogs to search all of London for explosives and the River Thames was closed down—including the bridges over it—for an entire day for the Thames River Pageant. Over 6,000 police officers and a total of 13,000 security personnel took part as over a million people a day gathered for the festivities.
