It’s not quite as novel as the Barack Obama mash-up video tribute or as smooth as Ted Williams “Golden Voice” cover, but finally NewsFeed gets to see how the maniacally catchy “Call Me Maybe” sounded live on late night TV.

Carly Rae Jepsen, the ex-Canadian Idol contestant turned ubiquitous Internet meme inspiration, debuted on Jimmy Fallon this Thursday. And if the singer’s goal was to make soon-to-be tourmate Justin Bieber “proud,” as she told Rolling Stone, mission accomplished. It was a few minutes of unabashed pop for the channel-surfers at home, and may have just temporarily hypnotized the live audience with that stubbornly undeniable earworm chorus.

Meanwhile, the hit-making potential of anything “Call Me Maybe” related now seems to be peaking. Even the guys behind the “Baracks Dubs” Obama cover of the song have said that choosing a Carly Rae Jepsen hit has made the clip wildly popular.
