Hunter and Edwards began a relationship in 2006, and Hunter worked as a videographer for Edwards’ 2008 presidential campaign. She gave birth to their daughter Quinn in February 2008.

Hunter’s relationship with Edwards created a scandal when it was publicized that they had concealed their affair and Edwards’s paternity. Andrew Young, a staff member for the Edwards campaign, claimed paternity of the baby. He later denounced this claim in his memoir. Edwards’ wife Elizabeth died of breast cancer in 2010.

Edwards was later indicted and tried for using campaign funds to hide his affair with Hunter. All charges against him were finally dropped earlier this month.
