Feud Over? Liam Gallagher Singing Oasis Songs Again

Seemingly putting behind his rivalry with brother Noel, Liam Gallagher has performed Oasis tracks for the first time since they disbanded in 2009.

Could an Oasis reunion be in the cards? For the first time since their acrimonious split three years ago, former Oasis frontman, Liam Gallagher, has performed songs from their catalog.

During a low-key gig in Warrington, England, with his current band Beady Eye, Liam devoted two songs out of a 12-track set list to classic hits by Oasis.

He chose to perform “Rock ‘n’ Roll Roll Star,” from the band’s 1994 debut album “Definitely, Maybe,” and “Morning Glory,” from its breakthrough second album “(What’s The Story) Morning Glory.”

Although the tracks were well received by the crowd, the Guardian reports that there was some fan criticism of Liam’s performance. He hit back on Twitter: “Listen up squares we’re playing them live not re-recording them so chill.”

Beady Eye is due to perform three much larger gigs supporting the reunited Stone Roses at Manchester’s Heaton Park on June 29. There have been no indications whether Beady Eye will again perform any Oasis tracks.

While his brother Noel has routinely played Oasis tracks during gigs with his new band, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Liam had previously vowed never to perform any material by Oasis with Beady Eye.

Earlier this year he indicated that he had changed his mind, saying, “I feel they’re just as much my songs as they are Noel’s.”

Since the band’s inception in 1991, and throughout their height during the 1990s Britpop era, the tempestuous relationship between the Gallagher brothers was a constant presence, marked by several public spats.

In 2009, after a series of cancelled gigs, Noel quit the band to form Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, while Liam and the remaining members continued to perform under the name Beady Eye.
