Roswell Really Happened, Says Former CIA Agent

A 35-year agency veteran says he knows what went down in the New Mexico desert 65 years ago — and coincidentally has a new book to promote

The U.S. Air Force released this photo June 24 of an aeroshell of a NASA Voyager Mars space probe prior to launch at Walker AFB, New Mexico (formerly Roswell AAF) as part of its report on the so called "Roswell Incident" of 1947.

What happened at Roswell 65 years ago? It may be a conspiracy theorist’s greatest mystery. Now, one former CIA agent says he has information that could solve it.

(VIDEO: UFO Mystery: The 65th Anniversary of Roswell)

On July 8, 1947, most reports agree, something landed in Roswell, N.M. At first the government said the object was a “flying disk,” but it quickly changed its story the next day to a “weather balloon.” For a few years, people bought that answer, but eventually some started asking questions. Some people say it was Stalin sending a message to the U.S. as the Cold War kicked off in earnest. Others say Roswell was the first contact between human beings and extraterrestrials. Still others maintain that it really was just a weather balloon. Now ex–CIA agent Chase Brandon says he knows what really happened.

(PHOTOS: Inside the Annual Conference of UFOlogists)

“It was not a damn weather balloon,” Brandon told the Huffington Post. “It was a craft that clearly did not come from this planet.” The 35-year agency veteran was a covert agent involved in international terrorism, counterinsurgency, global narcotics trafficking and weapons smuggling, and spent 10 years as the agency’s first entertainment and publication industries liaison.

Full disclosure before we storm the barricades: Brandon is promoting The Cryptos Conundrum, a new novel that his website describes as a “sci-fi, political conspiracy thriller about CIA’s cover-up of the Roswell UFO crash.”

(PHOTOS: In Praise of Unusual Flying Objects)

Sometime near the end of his service, while he was the entertainment liaison, Brandon walked into the CIA headquarters in Langley, Va., and found something he did not expect in a restricted section of old documents called the Historical Intelligence Collection.

One of the boxes had a single word written on it: Roswell. “I took the box down, lifted the lid up, rummaged around inside it, put the box back on the shelf, and said, ‘My God, it really happened!’” Brandon recounted.

The former agent reported seeing some “written material and some photographs” but will not reveal what else he saw. “But it absolutely, for me, was the single validating moment that everything I had believed, and knew that so many other people believed had happened, truly was what occurred,” Brandon concluded.

Although he said he believes he hasn’t violated CIA policy by talking to HuffPo about the discovery, he was clear that he would not say anything more. “I will go to my grave being mindful of the two hats that I wear: my personal one and the one that will forever reside on my head as a former CIA officer,” Brandon said.

I was in the military in 1963 w/a secret clearance.  We were briefed on the Roswell situation. There were photo's accompanying the information  given to us.  Aliens did in fact land here and were eventually taken to Wright Patterson Air Force Base.  I really don't care if know one believes this, I know what I saw.

I absolutely hate these people who come and say that they know the answer but never disclose it, what is the point of saying anything if you're only going to fuel the speculation even further!! If he didnt want to give any answers then he should just stay quiet!! I believe everyone already knows Roswell really happened so he doesnt need to come and tell us what we already know!!

Born in 1955, I have always believed in the Roswell invasion from extraterrestrials.  Too many unanswered questions from the Feds, surely made this possible.

I believe intelligent life thrives in our Universe, I really do.  The Universe is too large, with billions of galaxies and trillions of stars for their not to be.

But unless they've developed some sort of faster-than-light travel, I just don't see the possibility that they've been coming here.  The distances are just too impossibly vast.

I believe this guy's story about as much as I believe in christianity, Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.   I blame religion for giving people the idea that it's STILL OK to believe in fairy tales in the first place ..... it makes it easier to believe other flat out lies

Even if the government threatened people to keep Roswell hush-hush, it doesn't mean the government actually knows anything! They may have done that to prevent panic from occurring. People watch too many goddamn movies.

What people don't realize is that Roswell is a place of great selflessness and sacrifice on the part of the extraterrestrials or aliens. The spaceship that crashed at Roswell in 1947 was deliberately crashed into the ground by the aliens (resulting in the death of 3 or 4 of them) in order to draw the attention of mankind to their presence. Unfortunately the US government chose to cover it up. Someday this incident and place will be a memorial to their sacrifice and bravery. For more info see ufocoverup.org

I TOTALLY believe there is OTHER intelligent life **(SOME WHERE)** out there in the UNIVERSE!!!

******* (First, PROOF is that (WE) / (EARTH EXIST)!!!! ********** *

Just based in STATICAL NUMBERS of ***(BILLIONS)*** of PLANETS and GALAXIES that we know of...STATICALLY speaking, chances are (EXTREMELY GOOD) that there is at LEAST **(1)** OTHER planet, somewhere in the UNIVERSE that also has INTELLIGENT life on it if (WE / EARTH) exist!!!!

******* But one of (HISTORY'S) MOST IMPORTANT happenings...CREATURES from another PLANET crash land in ROSWELL, and it is (FORGOTTEN) about, and placed in (CARD BOARD BOX), marked in BIG letters, (ROSWELL)!!!!

That is certainly where I would KEEP one of (HISTORY'S) MOST IMPORTANT happenings...CREATURES from another PLANET crash land!!! Not such a (BIG) deal...just put it in a (CARD BOARD BOX) marked (ROSWELL) and FORGET about!!!! TOTALLY believable!!!

Is this CIA agent JUST trying to (PROMOTE) his BOOK??? Maybe his discovery of the ROSWELL box, is why HE is a (EX-CIA) agent!!! *******************

Unbelievable.  This guy offers up nothing, in fact, refuses to tell us what he saw.  Yet Time and Huff Po are acting like this is proof that there's a cover up and proof that there really was a space ship manned with aliens.  Wake up people - Brandon is promoting a science FICTION book.  How can you not see the connection?  A box marked "Roswell"?  That's it?  Seriously?

It would be pretty hard to believe that he just popped into the high security storage facility, opened a box containing some of the worlds biggest secrets, read those incredible  secrets, put it back on the shelf and years later when he has written a book decides the world should know the truth!

Back in 1970 I was a US Air Force flight instructor at Reese AFB, TX. We were training the first group of Astronauts for NASA who were not from the military test pilot community to fly high performance jet aircraft as part of their astronaut training.  This was the first time NASA had considered a flight crew without being a rated military test pilot as the first requirement. These astronauts in training were to be the first mission specialists who had a primary function other than flying the spacecraft.

I asked one of the students why he had been willing to give up a high ranking position at the then primary Air Force Aerospace research facility for a job as an astronaut trainee which had about the same rank and privilege as an Air Force Second Lt.

He told me "I want to know where they came from"

When I asked him what he had meant by that, he told me that if I repeated what he was going to tell me, nobody would believe me and he would deny having said it. He then said,"Several years ago some piloted space craft were brought down after flying around one of our nuclear weapons test ranges. One of those craft that was brought down had a survivor who lived for some time after the crash. I did the autopsy on the last survivor after it passed, and I want to know where they came from."

He never mentioned Roswell or where this might have happened but did go on to say that I should not worry if I ever saw a "Flying Saucer" because "If you see one, it is one of our's"

I should say at this point that the astronaut in question was not F. Story Masgrave. It was one of his classmates.

The original "flying disk" press release was created by people who hadn't actually left the base, so little better than rumor.

Documents released decades later strongly suggest that the wreckage was debris from Project Mogul, a then-Top Secret program using...wait for it...weather balloons to monitor Soviet nuclear weapon tests by detecting vibrations in the upper atmosphere.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P...

In the original, unexaggerated account by Mac Brazel, the man who found the wreckage, he described it as "rubber strips, tinfoil, a rather tough paper and sticks", which fits the composition of the radar reflectors in use at the time, which would have been attached to the Mogul equipment.

There was a cover-up at Roswell, but they were concealing a military surveillance project, not aliens.

The nearest star to Earth, Proxima Centari, is 270,000 times farther than our sun.  So, who knows how much farther a UFO would have had to travel.  It's interesting that they could get here, but did not have the technology to avoid crashing once they arrived in Roswell.

Yeah, I am believing this story.. I believe he is saying he saw some papers... and  I believe he thought to himself "my god it really happened.  I also believe he didn't tell us what "really happened."  But making us believe that it was aliens..now that is just deceitful and a way to sell his book.

Aliens did land.  They are now the ones running our government.  Have you noticed how both parties in our 2 party system are becoming more and more alike and more and more ineffective.  They are running our country into the ground, using human-kind's natural proclivity towards the "get what you can for free" attitude.  We are arguing over whether or not two dudes should get to marry each other (why not?) and reading about the Kardashian sisters, while our local, national and global economies are being run into the ground.  Do you blame Wall Street CEO's for taking hand-outs?  It's good for their company, which means it's good for them.  If they did not take them, they would be replaced with someone who did.  Everyone does what's good for their own self, which would be a good thing by itself, but the government is perpetuating this habit of paying for other peoples errors out of it's own pockets so no one has any accountability anymore.

Take taxes from those that contribute to society (and print more when it runs out) and give it away to:

1) National defense and Nation building; let's decimate another country's infrastructure, and then pour trillions of our own dollars into a nation of 3rd world sheep herders, and try to build it into a productive nation with paved roads, clean schools and their own welfare system while our own country's school systems spiral down the drain.

2) Wall Street bailouts for poor financial decisions

3) People who have no interest in working or contributing while they can get what they want for free

Does this sound like the well thought out plan of rational human beings or the devious plot of a superior alien life form that has assumed power of the Earth's world leaders?

So he wasn't there.  We have his opinion of what the "evidence" indicated based on his reading what could be very confused stuff.  He can't produce said evidence.  He's likely to gain from making people believe in the "Roswell incident".  Hmmn.  When I see a ship land, when aliens come out and are tested, I'll consider it possible they came to Roswell.  Right now, I see no proof, just more hearsay and possible deliberate lying.

Wow!  What a compelling bit of anecdotal nothingness!  "I looked in a box(one single box) and there it was!  All the evidence that an already credulous believer would need to validate currently held beliefs that it was really a "flying saucer" and not a balloon used to detect Soviet nuclear tests.  I can't tell you what any of it was, but believe me, it was REAL!"

Jesse Marcel was an intelligence officer. He was one of the very few human beings on planet Earth who knew America was going to drop a nuclear bomb on Japan. Just a few years later we are told to believe this same most responsible man mistook a weather balloon for a crashed alien spacecraft. I really hate to say it but we Americans are really stupid!

The only evidence that I will accept of extraterrestrials is the level of evidence suggested by Carl Sagan (who may have been an alien himself.)  He stated that an event so profound as an encounter with another race would require absolute evidence.  A level of evidence that goes beyond even reasonable doubt.  There can be no doubt.  And that probably will require a ship to land in the middle of Washington DC (or some other major metropolitan area) with thousands of on-lookers and dozens of military aircraft circling above.  In other words kind of like the beginning of the movie: "The Day the Earth Stood Still".  Ex-CIA memoirs are BS.

If one murders, he will steal.

And if one steals, he will lie; because stealing and lying are lesser wrongs than murder.

Government amp; CIA have been known to be in the murder and mass murder 'business'.

So lying about aliens comes quite easily for a government worker.  lol

This means that it is more likely that the so-called CIA agent is LYING than telling truth about his aliens, of which there have been no widely known/proven evidence of their existence.

For all the nay-sayers out there:

So you are saying that among the billions of galaxies that exist in the

universe, each containing billions of stars (do the math...it comes out

to greater than 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars), that we are superior

to every other life form that exists in evolution, intelligence,

technology, etc.?  If one millionth of one percent of the aforementioned

stars contain an intelligent/advanced life form, do you know many that would

be?  10 BILLION.  It's pretty arrogant and naive to think we're the best

the universe has to offer don't you think?

William Galison

The account of "rubber strips, tin foil" was from a newspaper interview made immediately after Brazel was interrogated and detained for several days by military police. Is there any chance at all that the military scared the living shot out of Brazel and told him exactly what to say?

All other eye witnesses to the debris, including Brazel's daughter testifies that the material was like nothing they had ever seen.

But more compelling still is the deathbed, sworn affidavit of Walter Haupt, who issued the AAF press release.

If that were the case, though, then they must have landed prior to the Great Depression first without anyone noticing. Most of the nonsense that goes on in government today can be traced back to the New Deal or even earlier.

The problem with Drakes Equation is that it pulls arbitrary numbers out of thin air. Why are we to assume  1 percent of the star system has intelligent life? Or 1/100, or 1/1000 or even one billionth? It's compelling to say even if a tiny, tiny fraction of the universe contains life we must conclude x, y or z but there simply is no evidence at this time.
