Maybe you always thought that the twin actresses were just too cute in their role as baby Michelle Tanner on Full House. Maybe you’re not a fan of their fashion line. Maybe you just find twins creepy. But even if you’ve never thought there was something eerie about the Olsen twins, here’s some food for thought.
For one, child labor laws prevented Full House from using one baby as Michelle Tanner when the show cast the role in 1987. So both Olsens played the role–but under the same name. For years, the opening credits listed “Mary-Kate Ashley Olsen” and many viewers assumed it was one person.
Despite this, they began appearing as separate characters in movies and TV shows during the show’s run.
One of these classic mid-’90s girls’ sleepover flicks was Double, Double, Toil and Trouble. The Olsens played twins girls who discover that their great aunt had been trapped and cursed by her evil twin sister forever–unless they broke the spell. Creepy, huh?
Mary-Kate and Ashley have mostly moved on from their acting careers to more auspicious ventures — attending college, dressing like indigent waifs and becoming two of the wealthiest women in show business. And yet, they remain household names. Truly shudder-worthy, if you ask us.
