Gunfire broke out at a Greensboro, N.C., theater on January 16, 2009 on the opening night of Notorious, the big-screen story of rapper Notorious B.I.G.’s life and death. A man was shot twice in the abdomen following an argument just after 9 p.m at the Grand 18 at Four Seasons Station, the Greensboro News-Record reported. Soon, an estimated 700 people were evacuated, including Jamal Woolard, who plays theĀ famed East Coast rapper in the film and was in the theater at the time. While Biggie, born Christopher Wallace, died in a drive-by shooting in 1997, that night’s incident at the theater was not fatal. The victim, 32-year-old Clive O’Connor, underwent surgery at a nearby hospital the next day. Police had difficulty tracking down any suspects and the investigation slowed after about a month. As in Biggie’s death, details remain hazy.
