Preteen girls across the world are experiencing their first taste of heartbreak — and it’s not even within their own relationships. Twi-Hards, the devout followers of the Twilight Saga of novels and their film adaptations, have been particularly hard hit by the revelation that star Kristen Stewart has cheated on her on-and-off screen boyfriend Robert Pattinson, along with her very public admission.
Given their clunky and awkward Twi-Hard moniker (modeled after “die-hard”), it only makes sense that Twilight‘s loyal fans have also created an affectionate mash-up of the couple’s names, too: “Robsten.” And they’ve had no shame in taking to Twitter to defend the Hollywood couple.
But the prize for the most devastated fan must surely go to 25-year-old Emma Clark, also known as Nutty Madam, who’s dubbed herself Twilight’s biggest fan. After the news emerged, she posted a YouTube video of her crying, “HOW COULD YOU DO THIS KRISTEN?!” Gossip blogger Perez Hilton is among several commentators to have likened Nutty Madam’s four-minute, profanity-filled tirade, which has so far gained nearly a million views, to Chris Crocker’s now infamous plea to “Leave Britney Alone!”

She is clearly distraught by the news, going through the standard stages of grief, starting with denial. Acceptance, indeed, is the hardest part, as her fragile emotional state progresses from an alternating combination of sadness and uncontrollable weeping, to rage, to more outright weeping. At the end, it appears she’s reconciled — both with the couple, and with herself — in telling the world to: “Leave them alone! Both of them! Just leave them alone and let them get on with this!”
On Tuesday, Us Weekly revealed photographs of Stewart passionately kissing Rupert Sanders, the director of her latest film, Snow White and the Huntsman. Sanders, at 41, is nearly twice the age of the 22-year-old Stewart, and what’s worse, he’s married with two young children. But this was no Sanders’ wife, British model Liberty Ross, even appeared in Snow White as the mother of Stewart’s character.
Stewart made no attempts to deny her infidelity and promptly released a heartfelt public apology to People on Wednesday. “I’m deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I’ve caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected,” her letter read. “This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I’m so sorry.” It’s believed to be one of the first times Stewart has professed outright her love for the 26-year-old Pattinson.
Heartfelt apologies aside, some fans are furious, a rage embodied in the immortal words of Nutty Madam: “Why, Why would you cheat on Robert Pattinson? What do you stand to achieve by cheating Robert Pattinson with Rupert f–king whatever his f–k!?” We’re glad to let her speak for all of us.
