We know, we know. You don’t want to hear Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” anymore. You’re done with it. (Or so you say.) But hear us out, because the latest version to hit YouTube is actually pretty cool — and it was released by Gotye himself. The Belgian-Australian artist, also known as Wally De Backer, wrote on his YouTube channel:

Reluctant as I am to add to the mountain of interpretations of Somebody That I Used To Know seemingly taking over their own area of the internet, I couldn’t resist the massive remixability that such a large, varied yet connected bundle of source material offered.

Gotye explained that Kutiman’s Thru-You project served as the inspiration for the endeavor, which weaves together everything from step-by-step tutorials and animated parody videos to a cappella covers and choir arrangements.

“No extra sounds were added to the mix,” Gotye wrote, “but I used some EQ, filtering, pitch-shifting and time-stretching to make the music.

” A full list of all videos included in the remix is available on the songwriter’s blog.
