There’s a sucker born every minute and a celebrity union made every hour. Or something like that. Whatever your preferred saying, dating couple Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively did the impossible on Sunday night: get married without any warning or even an engagement announcement.
The wedding took place at Boone Hall Plantation in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. Local radio station 95.1 FM first reported the nuptials in a tweet after a tip that a celebrity was in town. But they didn’t get just one. Their 60-person guest list was illuminated by reception performances by Bette Midler and Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine.

This was the first marriage for Lively, 25, and the second for Reynolds, 35. They met on the set of last year’s Green Lantern flick and bought a house together not long after.
It all seems quite swift, but both are notorious serial monogamists. Reynolds was engaged to Alanis Morissette for three years before they broke up in 2007. He soon took up with Scarlett Johansson and married her in September 2008. The almost egregiously attractive couple separated in December 2010 and finalized their divorce in July 2011. Reynolds and Lively’s relationship went public that October.
Lively is also a fan of long-term relationships. In a series of progressive upgrades, she dated actor Kelly Blatz between 2004 and 2007, Gossip Girl costar Penn Badgley from 2007 until 2010, and Leonardo DiCaprio for a brief time last summer before she got together with the former Sexiest Man Alive.
Either way, they can decide together if there is something more to life than being really, really, really ridiculously good-looking.
