We’re sorry, remind us why cars were invented again? Oh yeah, because horse-drawn carriages suck. Sure, they’re “romantic” and “nostalgic” and “good for sight-seeing.” But they’re also smelly and slow and God are they gimmicky and overpriced.
Not to mention dangerous and, arguably, harmful to animals. In August, a New York City carriage horse named Oreo panicked and broke free of its harness, running into a vehicle and injuring its driver before being subdued by police.
And then there’s this. Unless the horses are toting around the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge — and are rewarded with a blissful retirement to the nearest equine-friendly meadow for the honor — we’ll take our city carriage-free, please.
