The fastest man in the world in 2002 and a gold-medal winner at the 2000 Olympic Games, sprinter Tom Montgomery’s fall was nearly as fast as his feet. Not only was he banned from track and field for his involvement with steroids, but he was also charged with bank fraud in 2006. The former 100-meter champ pled guilty in 2007 to conspiring with 12 others to deposit roughly $5 million in counterfeit checks at several banks — a scandal that landed him a four-year prison sentence and also ensnared his former girlfriend and fellow disgraced Olympian, Marion Jones. Montgomery was also found guilty of dealing heroin in 2008 — a crime committed before he was sentenced in the fraud case — and received another five years in prison.
