Well, this is awkward. Public Enemy founding member and serial reality TV star Flavor Flav completely mistook Miley Cyrus for Gwen Stefani at this weekend’s iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas.
To be fair, he blatantly greeted the pop starlet by chanting “Gwen Stefani!” and nobody corrected him. The two went on to chat about Sin City, clocks — the usual celebrity chitchat. They exchanged a few more pleasantries, and after Cyrus walked away, Flav again exclaimed, “Wow! Gwen Stefani!” Then, finally, an onlooker from his entourage quietly explained that the blonde-haired woman with whom he’d just chatted was most definitely not No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani but instead Miley Cyrus. Whoops.
So the fearless Flav swooped back in for some damage control, hugging the pop star and shouting “I love you!” He soon added “And your daddy’s Billy Ray! Your daddy’s Billy ray!” — likely to quell any further doubts and confirm that he finally understood who this short-haired lady was. “Miley!” he shouts again. Okay, he knows who she is now. Whew, crisis averted.
Luckily, Cyrus didn’t seem too upset by the mix-up. If anything, NewsFeed thinks she should take this as a compliment.
