Romney was understandably unenthused with Obama’s decision to step into the Bakken formation in North Dakota, where new oil reserves were recently discovered, to take criminal action against “the people drilling up there.” What was their punishable action, he asked rhetorically? The drilling killed 25 birds, he said, leading the administration to launch a migratory bird act to stop the deaths. On the heels of Romney’s admission that he’d “kill” Big Bird and PBS in the previous debate, this comment wasn’t received too well.
