Since Monday, Donald Trump has been teasing a “big” announcement concerning the President of the United States. He not only appeared on Fox & Friends to say that it could “possibly” alter the course of the election, he’s been relentlessly teasing it to his million-plus followers on social media networks, even trying to assuage doubters by saying that his big news wouldn’t be “about Donald Trump” but “about the United States of America.”

Of course, the news — which he publicized via Twitter and Facebook — was about Donald Trump. Instead of what some had described as a potential election-altering “bombshell” or an “October surprise,” the curious were treated to yet another episode in the real estate mogul’s “From the Desk of Donald Trump” YouTube video series. There, Trump offers the president a “deal.”

“If Barack Obama opens up and gives his college records and applications — and if he gives his passport applications and records — I will give to a charity of his choice … a check, immediately, for $5 million dollars.”  A press release issued by Trump reiterates that pledge and says that the deadline for Obama to take up the offer is October 31st.

It’s worth noting, too, that Factcheck.org has published an item debunking claims about Obama’s “sealed” academic and medical records and Politifact has debunked falsehoods spread about the President’s Occidental College transcripts.
