The three debates leading up to this year’s presidential election covered a lot of topics: the economy, the war in Afghanistan, health care policy. However one of the key issues on many Americans’ minds was completely overlooked in the presidential debates: the threat of a zombie apocalypse. Luckily, filmmaker Joss Whedon is here to remind us all what’s at stake.
The director of The Avengers and creator of shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel has been a supporter of Barack Obama’s, but after careful consideration, Whedon said in the brief video he posted on YouTube, he’s now betting on Romney. Why switch sides? Apparently Whedon really wants to see a zombie apocalypse — and thinks Romney is the candidate to get us there.
Here are some of the highlights from the video above in which Whedon lays out his case:
You know, like a lot of liberal Americans, I was excited when Barack Obama took office four years ago. But it’s a very different world now, and Mitt Romney is a very different candidate — one with the vision and determination to cut through business-as-usual politics and finally put this country back on the path to the zombie apocalypse.
Romney is ready to make the deep rollbacks in health care, education, social services, reproductive rights, that will guarantee poverty, unemployment, overpopulation, disease, rioting — all crucial elements in creating a nightmare zombie wasteland. But it’s his commitment to ungovern corporate privilege that will nosedive this economy into true insolvency and chaos. The kind of chaos you can’t buy back.
If Mitt takes office, sooner or later the zombies will come for all of us.
