Love is back in the air, at least for fans of the Twilight films, as stars and sometime significant others Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart appeared side by side in an exclusive interview with MTV on Thursday. It was the first time the couple had been interviewed together since Kstew’s dalliance with the director of her film Snow White and the Huntsman made headlines this summer.

In the interview, the young actors were joined by fellow Twilight star Taylor Lautner. Even though all cheating-related conversation topics were prohibited, the couple was happy to chat about love scenes in the movie. “I feel like every scene in this movie culminates with a kiss,” said Stewart, something which will please those fans who have been looking forward to seeing more of the onscreen relationship between Bella Swan and Edward Cullen.

The three young actors also reflected on the audition process for the Twilight movies more than four years ago.  Stewart joked that it was thanks to her that Pattinson and Lautner ended up as part of the movie franchise at all. She helped advise director Catherine Hardwicke in choosing the actors who would play her two love interests. “I take full credit for both of these guys actually,” she said sarcastically.

Robert Pattinson also admitted during the interview that fans of the Twilight literary trilogy were not initially overjoyed when he was cast as the brooding yet dashing Edward Cullen.  There was “unanimous unhappiness,” he said to MTV — although it was pretty short-lived. In 2012 Pattinson was voted the world’s sexiest man for the fourth year running by the British edition of Glamour magazine. The young actor has also just signed a deal with Dior to be the face of their men’s fragrances.

However, the Daily Mail is skeptical about the authenticity of the couple’s romantic reunion. It does seem to be a coincident that the two have reconciled their differences mere days before the opening of the final installment of the Twilight film franchise. “Insiders have speculated about whether the reunion is genuine or just a ‘showmance’ designed to ensure Breaking Dawn – Part 2 is a box office hit,” the newspaper noted. Whether or not their relationship is real, the couple has put on a good show, spending Halloween night together and holding hands in public.  They will also appear publicly together on the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of the film on Nov. 12.
