NBC Chicago reports that a 21-year-old pregnant woman managed to squeeze in time to vote in her first presidential election on her way to the hospital to give birth to her first baby girl.
Cook County Clerk David Orr told the news station that Galacia Malone’s water had already broke and her contractions were five minutes apart when she arrived at her polling location, aptly named New Life Celebration Church, at 8:30 a.m:
“My hat goes off to Galicia for not letting anything get in the way of voting. What a terrific example she is showing for the next generation.”
Malone is still in labor, according to Cook County Clerk spokesperson Courtney Greve.
